This time we went for a five night holiday with Trailworld (www.trailworld.co.uk) in the town of Villanueva del Trabuco for a trail riding holiday.

The accommodation was ideal and the farmhouse setting with gardens and a pool were perfect. On the first afternoon Andy took us get kitted out with off road riding gear and select our machines. There was a good selection of kit and the AJP bikes were on display. Vic and Alan opted to take the 200cc machines with the lower seat height and Sandy took a 250cc bike (with slightly lowered suspension) Then it was back to the pool for a beer and a chat before Dave dropped us off in town so that we could sample the local eating places.

We had asked Andy to take us on relaxing routes with nothing too challenging, and on the first day (after our lovely cooked breakfast) we set out on a mixture of minor roads, trails, and tracks. Lunch was tapas in a village pub before continuing through lovely countryside with panoramic views. Our evening meal was a bit of a surprise! We were in a team which was entered in the Quiz Night. It was great fun and we came second!

On our second day we headed off through the countryside with our target destination being the high mountains which we could see in the distance from the farmhouse. The route was varied with the final track climbing to the summit of the mountain. The view was amazing with the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada Mountains still covered in snow. Tonight Fran and Andy provided one of their special barbeques in the garden at the farm house.

Next day we had arranged as a rest day – our previous experience has shown us that it is good to have a day off the bikes – and we relaxed at the pool and walked in the local olive groves.

On the last day riding we were taken on yet another group of trails, before finally heading back to base.

Andy was a marvelous guide and leader! He understood what we were looking for, and his great knowledge of trails in the area provided that exactly. Fran and Andy were marvelous and friendly hosts, and the holiday was excellent.
